Australian Outback Coffee Maker, from Piet Verhart (Aug 16/98)

I just saw a message by Tim Janosik asking about an Australian Outback
coffe maker.
I never heard of it, but there is an efficient kettle around, of which a
photograph is attached. It is not a very common piece of equipment but I
know of a Dutch couple who brought a similar, though smaller, piece of
equipment home in the early Eighties.
The kettle in the picture was probably  made by a boilermaker, aided and
abetted by a wood turner. It always accompanies the outings of the
Capricorn Field Nats to prepare the morning and afternoon tea. It could be
very efficient if the firebox were not without exception stuffed to the
gills with fuel leaving no access for air. Such is life.
Best regards,  Piet
